Mr. Gelson is a senior member of the Firm and
has been Certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial
Attorney since 1994. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial
litigation, personal injury litigation and dispute resolution.Mr.
Gelson litigates and tries contested cases in State and Federal
Courts. He has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in contractual
and corporate disputes involving construction, employment and franchise
contracts. Mr. Gelson also serves as an expert witness in legal
malpractice matters.
Mr. Gelson also devotes a substantial part of
his practice in negotiating and drafting agreements of all types
relating to construction projects. Mr. Gelson has represented the
Saint Barnabas Health Care System in preparing construction documents,
information technology and licensing agreements for the System’s
hospitals and nursing homes for the past twenty (20) years, and
also serves as counsel to Jersey Mike's Franchise System, Inc. In
1987, Mr. Gelson was appointed counsel in one of the leading Right
To Die cases in the country. In 2000, Mr. Gelson obtained a jury
verdict of $3 Million dollars in a Wrongful Death case.
Mr. Gelson has been certified by the New Jersey
Supreme Court as a Mediator since 1995 and has served as an Arbitrator
and Mediation neutral in more than 900 matters in assisting parties
to resolve disputes outside of the litigation process. He has been
named in New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of the top ten mediators
and arbitrators in the State in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 &
2010.
As a reflection of his expertise and experience,
Mr. Gelson has been awarded the highest rating in the Martindale-Hubbell
law directory (”AV”) for more than a decade and has
received "top listed" ranking in the 2010 edition of Best
Lawyers in America.
